Tattoo Aftercare

Getting a tattoo completed by a professional artist you've researched  and the finished tattoo you are happy with isn't the end of getting a tattoo process.. Once you leave a tattoo studio with new ink its then your job to insure it heals its best so when your new piece is healed you'll still be just as satisfied with your new tattoo. To do this we advise following your artists advice, a lot of artists have different aftercare protocols based on the type of artwork they do. so always ask before leaving a studio what  they specifically recommend. If you go against it and the artwork doesn't heal as well... then it'll be a lesson and hopefully your artist forgives you lol ;) But here at good vibes our artists put our years of research together and we all recommend the same aftercare method which is included below.

When finished your tattoo your artist will put on a  layer of second skin, this is an antibacterial microporous layer  that will cover and protect your tattoo while also allowing the skin beneath to breathe during the initial healing period . It is  waterproof so you can shower as normal . Your second skin will collect a small amount of blood/ink/plasma this is absolutely fine it will dry into your tattoo and help heal it. (IF your second skin collects a large amount of plasma after 24hrs, usually rare and in the case with colour or blackwork tattoos then we recommend contacting your artist and they will advise you how to safely remove and replace with a new piece of second skin)

The average recommended time for second skin to stay on is 5 to 7 days.

Once the second skin has been removed Wash with natural soap to remove any  residue or plasma Pat dry, then apply a very small amount of  recommended aftercare as a little goes a long way, massage into the skin until fully soaked in, Please do not leave a layer of any cream/oil on your as it can prolong healing and collect bacteria  causing the tattoo to suffer,  We recommend to Do this process every time you see your tattoo starting to get dry, do not let it get to dry and risk scabbing, continue this process until the tattoo is fully healed, Remember to wash between each aftercare application.

depending on your immune system it should be healed in minimum 2 weeks

If you have a skin condition or medical grade adhesive allergy that prevents you from using second skin, Our artist will cover your tattoo yet recommend to remove covering after two hours and follow our aftercare shown above from *once second skins been removed*
